A Vision Born in 2014
The Nigeria Information Technology Professionals in Civil & Public Service (NITPCS) was conceived by Mr. Raphael Ayodele Omosola, a visionary IT professional who recognized the urgent need for a dedicated professional body to represent and advance the interests of IT practitioners within Nigeria's civil and public service.
In 2014, Mr. Omosola formally proposed the establishment of NITPCS to the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), arguing that IT professionals in government deserved the same professional recognition, structured career pathways, and advocacy that professionals in other fields enjoyed. His proposal was approved, and NITPCS was formally established under the auspices of the NCS.
The organization quickly gained traction, attracting IT professionals from ministries, departments, and agencies across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The first Technology Innovation Group (TIG) Summit was held in 2016, establishing what would become an annual tradition of knowledge sharing, policy advocacy, and professional development.
