Article 3.0 — Objectives
The objectives of NITPCS as enshrined in the 2021 Constitution are:
- To promote and advance the professional practice of Information Technology within Nigeria's civil and public service.
- To advocate for the recognition, career advancement, and welfare of IT professionals in government service.
- To build capacity through training, certification, workshops, and the annual Technology Innovation Group (TIG) Summit.
- To foster collaboration between IT professionals, policy makers, and relevant government agencies.
- To promote ethical, efficient, and innovative use of technology in public administration.
- To liaise with the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) and other professional bodies on matters affecting IT in public service.
- To maintain a register of qualified IT professionals in the Nigerian civil and public service.
Article 5.0 — Membership Categories
NITPCS recognizes three categories of membership:
- Professional Member: A civil or public servant with recognized IT qualifications and/or significant IT work experience in government service. Enjoys full voting rights and is eligible for NEC positions.
- Non-Professional Member: A civil or public servant engaged in IT-related work without formal IT qualifications. May attend events and access training, with a pathway to professional membership.
- Honorary Member: Conferred by the NEC on distinguished individuals who have made exceptional contributions to IT in Nigeria's public service. By invitation only.
Article 7.0 — Member Duties
Every member of NITPCS is obligated to:
- Uphold and promote the professional ethics and standards of NITPCS.
- Pay all prescribed dues and levies promptly.
- Attend General Meetings, TIG Summits, and other official gatherings.
- Promote the objectives and interests of NITPCS at all times.
- Abide by the decisions of the National Executive Committee (NEC).
- Refrain from any conduct that brings NITPCS into disrepute.
Article 14.0 — Finance & Donations
NITPCS is funded through membership dues, levies, donations, grants, and proceeds from events. All funds are managed by the Treasurer under the oversight of the NEC. Donations for Advocacy and Capacity Building are accepted from members and well-wishers and shall be applied strictly to approved programmes.
